The Atlanta Braves had a strong season in 1998, finishing with a record of 106-56 and winning their sixth consecutive National League East division title. The team was led by future Hall of Famers Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz who combined for a record of 52-23. The Braves also had a strong offense with sluggers Andres Galarraga and Chipper Jones. The team went on to reach the National League Championship Series but lost to the San Diego Padres in six games. Despite the disappointment in the playoffs, the Braves had another successful season and remain one of the most dominant teams of the 1990s.
